Years ago, I issued
@Blackvegetable a very simple challenge, and to the shock of absolutely no one, he has avoided it ever since.
The challenge: Have Cannon or Deezer randomly choose a page from each of our OP histories. Then compare whose OPs contain more of his own original thoughts, arguments, and analysis.
Posting articles is fine. That is not the issue. The issue is whether the person posting actually adds thoughtful commentary of his own, or whether the OP is mostly just an article followed by the usual “Trump bad / MAGA dumb” routine, a flood of questions for everyone else, and no real attempt to answer anything, defend a position, or take ownership of his own OP.
The original challenge was that the loser takes a month off. Since Veghead will probably continue treating this challenge like garlic to a vampire, I am asking the mods if they would be willing to do it just for fun.No official punishment. Just a random sample and a neutral comparison.
@Cannonpointer @Deezer Shoove what would you want from me in return for your time?Donation to the site? Public thank-you? Temporary posting break?
I’d offer not to gloat afterward, but let’s keep this realistic.
Not agreeing to anything here but a clarification would be needed.
"a page from each of our OP histories" means what?
One way to look at it is to pull up a poster's digest and see "Threads started by".
A list of threads shows up, choosing a page number randomly would yield, for example,
on page 26 there are 20 thread titles.
Do we then choose yet another random number 1-20 and that's the thread in the "comparing contest"?
First, it wouldn't seem a sample of one produces a proper result. Jus' sayin'...
Second, more than that becomes busy work.
Keep sellin'
Please seat yourself.
I like the very things you hate.
